Wasn't the sidelight or the brake light, just crud built up on the connector so a quick dismantle and clean up and everything is as good as new

I have just been sent a Vacuum Sensor instead of a washer pump. So that means another few days without washers. At least I can sense vacuum's though.

Oil and filter changed this afternoon and while I was under there replaced the original bottom turbo hose for good measure as it had gone very soft! Also check tightened all the nuts on the forward exhaust section I replaced a few weeks ago.

Found where my coolant is going - there is a small leak somewhere around the thermostat area. Will remove the intake piping and have a good look next weekend. Have just ordered a new stat to fit while I am at it. Relieved to have finally found the leak, was getting a bit concerned it may be head gasket when I could not find it..

Replaced the windscreen washer pump, headlight bulbs (one had blown) and fogs I took the opportunity to but Night Breakers in the headlights and some 90% brighter fogs.

I have noticed my nearside light adjustment motor is constantly whirring. Read somewhere what causes it, somewhere..

Dropped my GT off at SPR coachworks, she will be there for a week. Looking forward to having a mint car again after some utter **** defaced it in November.

Replaced o/s inner CV joint. Boot was split and joint was dry and worn. Could hear it under power and it went off when decelerating.

Couldn't get the hub nut off to remove the drive shaft .. so split upper and lower ball joints and track rod and took the hub and upright out with the driveshaft in one!

New joint was a good fit, but it does take forever to replace and tighten up those six hex bolts and nuts ..

Took her out tonight and quiet as a mouse .. apart from the exhaust clonking on the rear a/r bar ... again!

cheers, Gary

All 4 alloys refurbed!

Gonna cost a few quid.
The GT went to A for Alfa yesterday.

Have to say, Paul's work is first class, he stripped down the rear brakes as one pad was sticking (12 months after discs and pads were replaced) the idiots who did the job before didn't clear the caliper carriers so the pads just seized on.

Due to the knackered wishes will need two new tyres. Any recommendations? I've got 18" Jet Fins

18" tyres

Hi Geoff,

I'm very happy with the all around performance of my Michelin Pilot Sport 3s in 225/40 R18. Wet grip is particularly impressive.

I have heard very good reports of the Goodyear Eagle F1s too, but have not tried them myself.

Some people like oversized 235/40s, but caution is needed with insurance validity there.

My PS3's don't protect my precious jetfins well though!

Cheers,

Jon

4 new conti sport contact 5's fitted, full geometry attempted and failed.
Anyone got a print out of what alignment should be on a GT?

I'd say on cost wise F1's are out. 50 a corner more expensive!

Eagle f1 AS2 225/40 18 are 81.59 a corner from tyreleader online, get someone to fit for 10 a corner and that's dirt cheap!

seat height

After I bought a car I unwisely put the seat in highest position, only to realize I can't lower it again. So I found the courage, and yesterday dismantled the mechanism, lowered the seat, put it back together, adjusted it to about-ish right, and I'm not going to touch it again. Considering I'm not the most skilful person, with limited selection of tools, I'm quite proud of myself.
After that I tried to change side light bulb, but found it virtually impossible.

New knob!

It's a Richbrook one from Halfords, but the old peeling one was doing my hand in! I took a while to get it to fit but it looks smarter than the old tatty one

I like that, mine too is scratched and worn looking now. Did the old one come off easy? I have tried whilst sat in the driving seat to just unscrew it (that's how they used to be in the 70's/80's ) but it looks like there is more to it than that, is there?
