Rainex is ok for the side windows and is fantastic on plastic headlamps. I wouldn't use it on the window screen, but where the wipers dont go can keep the dirt off longer. Aeros n bare glass every time, I go divy at the hand wash guys if they try cleaning my screen, they don't understand English!

Try Angelwax H2G0.....you'll never think about using Rain-X again. It's no more expensive than Rain-X either. You can also use it on your windscreen with no issues as long as you prep the screen properly first.
Get it from www.Ioclean.co.uk and use the discount code da10 to get 10% off. You'll also get free Haribo too!

Changed the bottom mount yesterday. Car feels ultra smooth now. No engine vibrations...
Kind of miss the vibes now... :-(

Oil change and air filter clean and refit. While doing it i noticed the front bolt in the battery tray was sat in the tray so battery out and refit that. Repositioned an errant wiper blade that was cleaning the A pilar too.
Cleaned the engine cover for the first time too - looks brand new without the oil and dirt. Vacuumed the small debris from a mouse nest under the cover

Big clean inside and out tomorrow before a mini road trip this week.

Had the roof vinyl wrapped in satin today plus a remap, she's now pushing 182bhp and about 280lb ft torque.

Sounds good, does it stay on longer because you need to redo rain-x every couple of weeks

Mines been on a month now and still performing excellently. The car has been washed about 8 times in that period too.

TUT EGR Blank Modified

Todays job was to modify the EGR Blanks I bought, mine's a Euro4 JDM and I bought the complete blanking plates! Apparently ok for an Euro3 JDM, wondered why the EML kept coming on! Removed blanks, drilled a 6mm hole in the lower one and 4x 4mm holes in the manifold one, refit, clear fault code, and job done no more EML!

How come you used both blanks rather than just the one?

With a worn EGR valve guide the boost can be lost to the atmosphere, one plate seals the inlet manifold boost pressure, the other seals the turbo exhaust pressure. The soot goes into the EGR control solenoid and seizes it when the guide is worn! Boost, every little helps

It was a 2 piece kit, and as the lower one was such a tight fit as the pipe doesn't move much, using both gave a better position, I think the lower one was supposed to go on the exhaust manifold end of the exhaust gas pipe, but my bolts were seized so fitted it the other end and fits fine!

Ah yea I've seen those full delete kits, blank it off before the EGR cooler and allow you to remove the whole lot (EG valve and cooler) if/when you get the ECU remapped..

Maybe it's an age related thing (mine is a 54 plate) you know the "continuous improvement" blah blah. But if you can grip the handle and it won't pull out then something is wrong (you knew that already didn't you).

Maybe somebody did glue it in the past or spilled some kind of gunk on it. All I can think of is to keep working on it gently (but watch the bulb movement from outside the headlamp as you do it) - hopefully you'll eventually break the seal not the bulb holder.
I managed it finally! I had the bumper off today so thought whilst it was off I would take the head light unit out for more space, took some force and wiggling but it came out, only placed it back in loosely now

Replaced my wipers with Bosch Aerotwins and replaced headlights, main and dipped with Phillips Xtreme Vision +130s (Eurocarparts - half price!) and canbus error free LED sidelights. I can now see in the dark and rain, fantastic. Al the lights are now a crisp white rather than yellowy and penetrate further. Very impressed with the uprated lighting and much less tiring and stressfull night driving.

Where did you get the Aerotwins and how much did they cost?

I've decided that my trials with RainX are a failure.. It lasted less than 2 days this time... It doesn't shed the water quick enough any more and leaves horrible smears and a kinda snakeskin effect of water droplets when I use the wipers..

Also - Anyone got top tips to remove that crap?
