I had a creaking noise that sounded for all the world like upper wishbones, despite greasing the bushes the noise remained.
So, with the upper baljoint separated and the wheel off I lowered the car onto an axle stand under the hub , with the door open I stood on the sill and bounced the car, still creaked.
Called the missus outside and got her to bounce the sill, not very elegant for the old girl but needs must.
The creaking was coming from the upper suspension mount area. So I replaced the upper doughnut and the rubber ring that sits on top of the coil, coating all rubber surfaces in red rubber grease and it's been silent ever since.
All the best
This was without the axle stand insert fitted, I lowered it so the bottom balljoint nut was inside the axle stand so it was in no danger of sliding off. The car sat at just about the same height as with the wheel on.
