Possible new Alfa 147 owner

Hello All

I like the look of the 147, and would appreciate candid advice re aquiring a 2003ish model.

A friend had a 156 diesel - nice engine but electrical problems were a nuisance. I gather dealer support is cr#p, too. Is the 147 more reliable? Cambelt best changed 30K. Advice for more issues to explore please!

Re: Possible new ***** 147 owner

Welcome to AO.com

I've had my 147 for 3 and half years now and done 27k miles so far. The electrics haven't really caused any problems on it, only one major problem with it was a premature cambelt change, other than that its been a great car

Re: Possible new ***** 147 owner

My 147 only suffered one electrical glitch in five years - and that was a leak caused, inadvertently, by me. Check the cambelt issue, check the oil....other than that, at that mileage I can't think of many issues to concern you.

Apart form your spelling.....

Mine has been pants since the day I bought it - never ending problems - do yourself a favour and get an A3!

Re: Possible new ***** 147 owner

My only electrical glitch on 147 was airbag warning light. The Only problem, but repeated 2-3 times. Oh, those cr..p Bosch/Siemens connectors....

Keep your oil topped, change cam belt on time, learn to live with some body/interior noises and Alfa will keep you smiling for many years.
