Yeah, I definitely don't give her any beans til she's warm and ready (and begging) for it, but cold starts do seem a good bit better now.
Just filled her up, 50.81 litres
, with 402.7 miles
done, 70 miles of them were driving excessivly quickly after testing and showing her off to my mates, 200 were done on the A19 between York and Middlesbrough, cruising around the 80-85 mark, and the other 130 were done around York, mostly backroads and through town but didn't encounter any bad traffic. Also there was a shot of injector cleaner in that last tankful, don't know how that will affect mpg.
, and at that, I'm not complaining. I don't know many £3000 saloon sized cars that are as quick of the mark as mine that can achieve that sort of mpg, with the comfort and style that a 156 represents. Plus I'm using ASDA's own diesel, at 81.9p per litre as I get a good discount there. Yeah mpg is not great but good, and the difference is more than offset by the performance I'm achieveing and the fun I'm having. Maybe it'll cost me £100
more a year in fuel, as before I was getting around 40mpg
. But what's a hundred quid these days? Only 2-3 weeks depreciation if I'd have followed Plan A and bought a 20v..
Now I'll just pray to God, Allah, Nirab and whoever else that my clutch holds out til I've got some more money, but saying it does hold, this is the most fun I've ever had per £ spent, except maybe that 4hour test drive I got from Merc in York in the SLK32 AMG one hot summers day
but thats a whole other story..
