I have my eye on a alfa romeo 2.0 lusso selespeed my only concern is iv spoken to the dealer and he has told me the cars bet has snapped in 2005 (5000miles ago) but it got fully repaired from a alfa dealer, as im new to alfas i was wondering if this is enough to stop most people from buying it or.....he has the service history showing the repair tho and everything else seems in order.
Any advice would be appreaciated and thnx again
Also on a side note very nice forums here and very interesting reading

Personally I would find out, as niallmoran says, if the car has had the bottom end rebuilt too as a result of the top-end work. If not walk away. If it has, I would say it is worth a go, especially if you can knock a few quid off. Also worth seeing if the variator was changed at the same time.
Don't forget that these engines use oil, you need to check and top up every week.
Also the usual caveats re: Selespeed, has it had the software updates installed? etc, do a search on this forum for more info. Some people swear by them, others have had problems with the system.
Also check for suspension squeaks, indicating worn bushes.
Don't be put off by all this, it's all worth it when that tacho needle spins round to the red line again and again and you hear that twinny roar.....
