Selespeed prices VS Manual prices.....

In Australia the Selespeed is treated a bit like a hot potatoe...... manual cars are sold at about the same price as the more expensive selespeed cars in the 2ndary market.....

How is this around the world... especially Europe/UK ?

Personally once a selespeed has been fixed they appear fine - they don't deserve the bad rap......

Re: Selespeed prices VS Manual prices.....

In the UK, you would get a selespeed around £500-1,000 cheaper than a manual a few years ago (when I sold mine)...

The paying public will steer away from a "Sellafield", providing the don't steer away from Alfa all together

Public perception is not good (but we know otherwise)

147 Selespeed

Re: Selespeed prices VS Manual prices.....

I cheekily went a got a p/x price of my 147 Selespeed against a £10K Honda CRV (just for a laugh) at an indie just before xmas, Apart from the salesman being greasy, creepy and nicotine stained, after making a call to his boss he said he wasn't interested in 'doing business' because they don't trust Selespeeds. I just laughed at him. There's so much anti-seles out there amongst the indie garages. Dai.

My sele is 7 years old with 107000 on the meter and runs like a swiss watch... its funny that BMW's and Porsches with tiptronic or whatever they call it (same components as selespeed !) are treated like gems !
its just a general feeling among the public that it is Italian and therefore rubbish.

Re: Selespeed prices VS Manual prices.....

The Selespeeds are worth less here in the UK due to the fact that if (sorry, I meant when) you get a problem, its a dealer only fix and EXPENSIVE.

If its of any consolation, Ferrari buyers purchasing new choose Selespeed/ F1 transmission, but used buyer searches are mainly for manuals!

Tough **** if you want a Vanquish - they never work, there is no manual, 1st is too tall, you cant park it and it burns the clutch out (when its not throwing its auxiliary belt off that is)

Re: Selespeed prices VS Manual prices.....

It isn't "main dealer only" for a Selespeed, you just need someone with the Examiner system and most good independents have it now.

I think the Vanquish is responsible to a lot of the anti paddle-shift feelings, especially after Clarkson's attempt to perform a 3-point turn with one.
