156 boot water leak

Water in spare tyre well and floor trim wet on offside towards rear. Under trim appears dry. Seems to be from heavy rain when parked. Car is 4 year old JTS. Any ideas?

Re: 156 boot water leak

sounds like either a dodgy rubber trim or mis-alligned boot..

Re: 156 boot water leak

Good place to start anyway. The rubber seals on the 156 often get tatty from people trying to stuff things in the boot (big boot, small opening syndrome) and I suspect yours has either come loose or just worn down. Try using silicone grease (available from plumbers merchants) which is similar to vaseline but won't damage the rubber, to rub into the seals which may prolong the life a bit and help them seal better.
