Whoops my bad... I thought it had 2 holes, for 2 levels of adjustability on each bar, like the H&R ARB kits?

Just looked at the box, the rear bar is adjustable..Thought so..as i remember you setting the bar to stiffest setting on the rear Ned..;-)

Since the whole point of the roll bar is to reduce roll, why would anyone want anything other than the stiffest setting?

To balance the front and rear of the car..adjustment makes a difference to grip levels to the front and rear of the chassis. I really prefer a stiff rear end on the GT, makes her really dig in on fast cornering.

Yes in standard form the Gt is a tad lacking. An easy fix is the ARB kit. I would say even more influential than upgrading the suspension. Don't get me wrong, good suspension and a tad lower centre of gravity, is important in the equation. But the uprated ARB's really give the car the stability in the twisty stuff. Rear bar set to stiffest setting..

Oi Ned

beat me to it... Cheeky monkey.

Well a day of greatness. Arrived at Autolusso bright and early. To be taken out in a GTA with eibach pro S with eibach ARB kit..Well the same as i would later be having fitted to Sooty.

Was extremely impressed. And i don't say this lightly. I swore i would never have coilovers on any of my road cars again. Coming from bilstein b16's, i was a bit wary of what to expect from the eibach pro s kit.

I needn't have worried.. The ride is compliant, not overly firm, and has a sense of Germanic quality. Bumps are absorbed without any fuss, and you get a sense of what the car is doing. Perfect compromise for fast road.

That said i have only felt the setup in the GTA and not on my GT yet, as i pick the car up in the morning. Cannot wait to have a dialed chassis again. Its been tough driving a standard GT chassis, after my last one was so well balanced. Ned recommended fitting different front springs, as the kit springs tend to have a tendency to sit he car too low, which compromises comfort and makes the front end slightly unsettled.

We also chatted about BBK options. Not as clear cut as i thought for fitting Brembo's.

Again big thanks to the Autolusso lads and of course the Ned'meister for guiding me to the eibach kit. Was nice going to Autolusso again, its been a while since my last visit. Its knowledgeable specialists like this that make Alfa ownership such a pleasant experience.

More reports tomorrow when i drive her home.

Damien.

So little update from me after some miles under my clovers wheels with the eibach pro s Street coilover kit and eibach ARB's.

This was not a subject i entered into lightly after my bad experience with bilstein b16's on my audi. And i swore i wouldn't ever have coilovers on another road car ever. Well like the saying goes, never say never.

After talking to Ned and reading up online on peoples experiences with the eibach kit, it became apparent all was indeed positive. This kit as the name suggests was designed for road use, unlike most of the kits on the market that are very overly harsh.

I was lucky enough on arriving at autolusso on friday to get a trial ride on a car with the same setup i was planning. And straight away i was impressed with the ride quality and feel of the chassis with the kit fitted. Compliant yet slightly harder, and the car just feels planted.

Having done nearly 300 miles now with my new chassis setup i can honestly say it has exceeded my expectations. My GT is transformed. Just staggering how good this chassis becomes with a decent suspension setup and stiffer performance ARB's. Also the car looks so much better with her new stance.

Cannot express how much i love this car. I knew i wanted another GT for a long while, after selling my last one. Sometimes the memory of something can be greater than the actual reality, but with my new modded Gt the memory and the reality are the same..Cannot stop smiling, and to be in a GT again is a great feeling.

Big thanks to Ned for educating me into the eibach pro s kit.."As always Ned you were spot on"..And i can highly recommend it to any GT owner.

Damien.

So today i went to Southampton to see Nick at the wheel alignment centre. Nick is brilliant at what he does. And he got my clover spot on.

Thanks Chris

Credit to Ned he got the stance spot on.

Strutbrace already on order, lovely aluminium item in raw finish.

Although i am honestly thinking of having the brace colour coded/ powder coated to match the clover satin grills and mirror covers.. All in the details lol.

Good productive morning. Managed to get hold of some second hand GT v6 uprights for my future GTA Alfa brembo brake conversion. These are hard to come by. Mine apparently comes with hubs and ABS sensors. Fingers crossed all is present and correct on receiving them.

With coil overs, big brakes and good tyres etc, the GT's chassis comes alive IMHO.

I never had the opportunity to go for the eibachs, I can only imagine it's improved things even further!!

You've made a good choice going back to a GT, in fact, you've made me a little jealous!!

Thanks mate. Yes i cannot tell you how chuffed i am to be in a GT again and this time my all time favorite clover 170 q2...Bar a nice v6 that is..

And yes the eibach's are a step further in Gt chassis greatness. I am really missing powerful big brakes after having the big porsche brembo's on my last car...To have that on my GT would be the icing on the cake. Have a few boring mandatory bases to cover first..cambelt..etc. I will slowly get there. The brake components will be bought slowly as funds allow. But it sure is a great feeling knowing i am "finally in the right car".

Recently have been to discuss the refurbishment of my clover alloys. Will be going with a shadow chrome process, to replicate the satin mirror finish of my mirror covers and grill. They can control and determine the colour lightness of the process. Will lend them a spare satin mirror cover to colour match. Will also be fitting BBS billet valve stems. They should look lovely on the car when done.:-) Good job i have a spare set of 16's to put on her while the 18's are off the car.

With only 2 days to go have had a change in my choice of wheel refurb colour. Was going to go with a darker smoke colour with diamond cut outer lip. But saw a picture of a clover this week with dark anthricite clover wheels, and the darker smoke colour looks absolutely awful. As the cloverleaf GT alloys need as much light reflected off the surface as possible to define their shape. So decided will have them as close to the satin grill and mirror cover shade as possible, and even give the diamond cut edge a miss as it will not show up in contrast with the now lighter chrome finish.
All in the details.

Also received my GT v6 uprights i got for a great price, for my GTA brembo brake conversion. Happy days. The brake project is a slow burning project at the moment, and will buy the parts as funds allow. Thanks again to Ned for the info.

Good choice! Light wheels look better on dark cars.

If it was red it might have looked okay 😉

I think they need to be as bright as possible. Dark alloys on the GT just don't look right..... Dark alloys on most cars look poor IMO

Cheers mate i agree.

Well busy day with the Clover...fitted new footrest i received from Italy this morning. Also fitted new clutch pin as the old one looked a bit brittle, will keep it as a spare. The rust protected the bottom of the steering rack..(in the foot well) As it looked slightly corroded.

The fitted my private plate as the paperwork finally arrived from the DVLA. I bought this plate for my previous GT and kept it on my cars ever since. Nice to see it finally on my new clover.

So busy day today in the bat cave.

Collected and then fitted my newly refurbished clover alloys. Really over the moon with the quality of the finish. Again platinum wheels in Swindon have outdone themselves.

I left a Spare satin mirror cover i had with them for them to colour match. My wheels are a shadow chrome finish, with black inner barrels and hubs. Shadow chrome having a black base coat. Also fitted my newly acquired Italian black and silver wheel centres.

Really pleased how the light catches the wheel colour, they look really sultry in contrast to my black bodywork. Which is what i wanted without going too dark a finish. And then fitted my BBS valve caps. Job done and another step closer to having her as i planned.

Also managed to fit my black 5mm wheel spacers. Which to me are spot on. Any more would have created problems on my lowered chassis.

Damien.
