Oi, that's my neck of the woods! Which route did you take over? I've always enjoyed the A35 for a blast to/from Loz in Bournemouth!

In case you're ever over this way again and fancy a proper fat greasy spoon fry up, I can heartily recommend the Station Cafe in Axminster... Right on the train station platform, proper big cheap fry ups with a mug of tea/coffee

Ordered my short shifter too tonight, fingers crossed for a surprisingly swift delivery

GT.Clover 170 Q2

Just ordered one of these bad boys from my fave Alfa specialist autolusso..Looking forward to fitting it and removing the no doubt filthy oem item. Especially now no more filthy fumage is going into my turbo to airbox hose.

Well done to Ned and the lads for producing the hose i knew it took them a while with the technicalities involved.

I have ideas of a new airbox design containing a nice K&N cone filter. I had a device on my Audi called a VTDA. It was produced by Steve Shwing a top engineer in the usa. He made them to order. Basically a cylindrical colour coded powdercoated airbox containing a K&N cone that made a lovely deep acoustical growl induction sound. Non of that bloody god awful teenage popping and sucking noises. Need to find one first as i contacted Steve he has stopped making them now.

Other than that..My GT is in rude health, just having big fun behind the wheel. Been along time coming after all my early ownership issues.

Still need to find a steering wheel, later GT/GTA style to send away to be refurbished in alcantara with red stitching.

Are you still having that breather attachment on your hose?

Yes as i didn't know i could have a bespoke version made without the inlet Dan? I thought it would mean using a different mould for fabrication?

Is this possible?

Cheers.

Forgot to mention i bought a wiechers rear strut brace for my GT a little while ago.

Utter bull****. It comes no where near to fitting between my rear strut towers. I was proper fuming after taking taking everything apart and removing the carpet between the rear strut towers to test fit. I am presently battling with "tuner shop" to get the bloody thing sent back. Disgrace really.. I have had to take pictures for proof as they didn't believe me? For christ sake don't buy from these people!!

Will have to have one made for my car. Then i can start the rear interior revamp. Going for a Porsche GT3/ megane RS trophy interior factory look.

Also i was after a set of Sabelt mito SBK seats. After further research, and the fact they will be like hens teeth. They are not particularly lightweight. They have the same seats in the fiat 500 biposto, which i sat in the other day, and came to the conclusion, i felt like i was sat on them not in them. Getting back into my clover the seats were more comfortable and had a slightly more supportive side bolster?

I thought about an all new airbox too. Because of the limited space, it's hardly possible to change the original design with the side outlet. An inline filter like the BMC CDA only fits with the air intake positioned too low for my likings. So I settled with a modified oem box.

I have a Ultra Racing rear brace for the 147 sitting in the garage, it's the one that bolts into the seat catch bolts, never used it as it pushed the rear seats forward and I didn't like that.

Not sure if it will fit the GT but if it will your welcome to it, sure someone will confirm if the catch points are the same or not.

Yes if you want one without the breather attachment, just ask. You're routing this breather into the exhaust using an evac scavanger thing anyway right?

That is correct Dan. I have the usa Evap scavenger valve at home ready to take down to Oxford, for when the front part of my system will be built..

Do i have a word with "The Boss" about having a hose made without breather inlet?

Thanks Paul will have a word with Ultra racing about the rear bar fitment for the GT. That would be perfect.

Yeah, he'll sort it for you. Otherwise you're just going to have to plug it, which would work fine too but its not as tidy a solution.

True i have a nice alu plug, but a hose without would be better flowing and look neater. Will have a word with Ned..

Dan do you deal directly with Ultra racing? I say this as i really would like a rear brace bar. Paul posted up a picture of the 147 brace bar that attaches by the seat contact brackets. But i am not sure the bar for the 147 will fit the GT. Worse case scenario would they be able to do a bespoke bar for me?

No I have never dealt with them. They are a Malaysian company I think.. I have ordered them before for customers, but just from the usual UK resellers. You could just get one made by an engineering company?

I've got an Ultra racing rear strut bar. Does the job. Needed a bit of drilling though.
Front and rear bars have helped the wallow. But then again the GT has a stiffer chassis than a 5 door 147.

So managed to source a VTDA airbox and filter from the USA. As mentioned the engineer Steve Shwing who makes the boxes via his business modshack, has stopped making them to order now. So the only way was to source one and renovate. Lucky for me the one i have found is in great condition. Depending on the size of the Alfa Airflow meter's connection diameter i may need to change the internal filter. The VTDA's were predominantly fabricated for Audi's.

Will have to do a bit of fettling in the bay to see how best to fit the Airbox cylinder body off the turbo. I may have to use a small bend elbow to direct and tilt the airbox slightly upwards to fit. Will have to see how or where to put the fuse box. Be nice to have the filter as an engine feature. The beauty of this airbox design is the venturi airflow design, and also the unique acoustics the airbox sounds when sucking in air. No boy racer wheezing chuffing here. Its almost an engine like low level growl. Really enjoyed owning it on my last modified turbocharged car. Will have to find a good way of directing external airflow to it too.

Little pic of what it looked like on my old TTQS. The one i have purchased will have a stainless body finish. Although i am considering colour coding it to my GT.

Damien.

Be good if you can get it in there, as you say getting a good cold airflow to it will probably be the most important part, but will look very when its in

So received this "wee Beastie" today. Perfectly formed Turbo to maf silicone hose. Cannot wait to fit it, and remove the no doubt internally filthy oem hose. Thanks Ned..

Also was in contact with Joel today at JTD performance about his manifold elbow. Creates a nicer flow into the inlet manifold. It all helps..

Do you have your plastic engine cover fitted?
When you take off the throttle body off the back corner will flop about as it won't have the ball socket thing to fasten onto, but dead easy to sort with a small bracket, will send a pic of mine when I remember.

Have to get in touch with AL to order one of those (in red of course)
