Dreaded CODE Light - Fixed
Helped out a friend today with a non starting 156 V6 Sportwagon. On both keys he was getting the CODE light. He managed to get it home using the 'tapping on the throttle' method.
After consulting the 'search' function here I worked out it was probably corrosion on the 'Code Box' connector block. He's had a rain water leak in the tailgate and as you can see from the photo there is rust on the mounting bracket. This view is above and to the left the fuse block. I used a long flat bladed screwdriver to wriggle the wires up and down so that the connector block was moved up and down.
Before this fix turning either key to the 'run' position just left the code light on. After the fix, the light extinguished after 2 seconds on both keys. And of course the car started.
