Nutting the lower wishbone alloy mount?
I did all 4 wishbones on my 98 2lt TS a few weeks ago. It was a fiddly job working with the car on jacks but I got it done eventually. 3 of the alloy mounts on the old lowers were stripped and I saw just how easy it would be to strip the new ones as it was very tricky to get the bolt started square into the allow thread.
Doing my sons 1.8lt now and found 2 of his old mounts stripped too. I wonder just how many Alfas are driving around with stripped threads on the wishbone mounts?
I don't see why it would not be possible to put a nut on the bolts of the alloy mounts in the event of stripping the threads. It would probably mean using a longer bolt and no doubt a pain the get the nut on, but I think it would be possible and better than binning the whole wishbone.
Any thoughts on this?
