If you can wait a day or two, I will put up some pics (try to) of the wife's 16 alloys that I have just taken for powder coating. To be fair, the alloys were damned near perfect before they went in and it is just a colour change from black to flat silver i have gone for.
I have blackline alloys on my blue 06 alfa. I had those done at the same place. OVERALL, the finish was pretty damned good (2 years ago). One of the alloys was pretty badly kerbed around the rim and it wasn't a PERFECT job but, two years on and the missus (honest, not me
) has managed to kerb at least 2/3 of them. Still, the main body of the alloy is STILL dead on.
It cost £20 per wheel from City Powder Coaters in Birmingham - there is an old adage "you get what you pay for" but I was more than happy...given the 1) price; 2) the fact I knew they would get some level of damage down the line; 3) overall the finish was pretty damned decent.
Like I say, I will post a pic of the missus' alloys once done and you can make a decision from there.
Of course, if you want them back to stock, powder coating is probably not for you! However, I wouldn't go for anything but powder coating unless they were polished and lacquered wheels but, for anything that would otherwise be painted - it has to be powder coating for me from now on - so easy to clean!
