Sorry for all the questions, but the more info we get the more it helps, hopefully!
If the problem was there before all the bits were changed,as Hugh Myles suggested,it may well be worth checking that the o ring wasnt left in from a previous change of crank sensor(before your man changed it!).Most people wouldn't think to check for an old one left in,especially if the sensor has one on when you remove it!
Do you have MultiEcuScan(free to download) and a suitable cable to connect a laptop to the obd plug?
If you have, you can check pumps, relays, diesel pressure and pretty much everything there is to check. It can really be useful.
If the car gets up to normal working temp, will it still not restart?
If you disconnect the maf sensor, does it try to start?
Likewise if you disconnect the temperature sensor ?
And even the map sensor?
Doing those will throw an error code but is easily cleared with mes .
It might be worth getting someone like Autolusso to check it over, they know these cars inside out and would probably find the problem really quickly.
If you don't mind me asking,is your car a blue one(I think),with about 150k miles and full service history?
Only asking as I was watching one on eBay,a few months ago, with very similar issues!
