So I picked up my GT just under a month ago and already been busy fixing faults!
The car is beautiful to look at in Rosso Radificano with tan leather seats and teledial wheels
but... With 108,000 miles on the clock she's done some work.
There was a bit of a lack of power at the bottom end and a bit smokey so thought egr valve was probably due a clean, popped off plastic cover and... Not good, no bar across the swirl flaps... Take it out and it's worn to buggery. £££ starting to show now, but thought for £20 I would try and use a swirl valve repair kit, I know it's not a permanent fix but not going to throw cash at the car until I know there's nothing else wrong
Fitted it and what a difference it made to the engine, cleaned egr and fitted a restriction whilst at it too. She still felt short of the 150bhp though and on inspection found a split in the intercooler to inlet pipe, £15 on a section of stainless pipe, cut out the split and stick that in. Now she boosts!
Coming from a cooper s this is a different animal to drive and I already love it.
Next job is to investigate the knocking from the front of the car over rough ground, suspect it's either rollbar bushes or drop links, any way to tell without getting dirty first?
