Need your opinion on this, please
I recently had my front wheel bearing changed, because I'd been hearing the typical wheel-bearing hum for a while. When the mechanic removed the wheel hub he noticed it was slightly worn (due to the bearing having seized...) and would have to be replaced. Since I had to take the car away, he replaced the bearing (had to because the old one was trash) and put the old hub back in.
A few days later I got a new hub and went to the garage to swap it. When he removed the old hub, the outer ring of the bearing came off. He carefully removed the ring from the hub, straightened it out and with the help of a hydraulic press managed to put it back in its place. He then put the new hub and bolted everything back together.
When I went for a test-drive I noticed that the humming was still there, and after taking the mechanic for a drive, we agreed that the noise was coming from the rear bearing, so we swapped that one too.
Unfortunately the noise is still there... :/
Anyway, what I would like to ask you guys is if you think that the front bearing after coming apart is shot, or should I look for something else?
