Fun with upper wishbones
Right, I've been tackling the upper wishbones (well, one anyway) on my mk1 156. Everything seemed to be going ok. So far, I've:
1.Split the ball joint
2.Taken off nut/loosend long bolt in upper wishbone
3.Undone four bolts holding strut/mount under the bonnet
4.Removed wheelarch liner
5.Rounded off allen key hole in drop link
It's this step 5 with which I've become a bit stuck. How do I proceed from here? It was starting to come undone, and then the last bit jammed and my allen key rounded off the hole. Is it a trip to halfords for a nut splitter? Angle grinder to take the nut off? Either way, it's going to be a new drop link isn't it?
The bolt is coming out on the spring side. I've searched and seen other people's experiences with upper wishbones, so I sort of know what I need to do, but the drop link nut is giving me grief.
Any help gratefully received!
