My only pearl of wisdom is this: Judge the car by the seller be it dealer or private sale.
+1. I should have paid more attention to the 'dealer' rather than being 'taken' by the Misano blue Brera 3.2 I went to buy.
Here's what I missed: Loose wheel bolts, seized front caliper, wet nearside rear footwell due to broken tail light fixings. All those on a 37k mile car which I think they bought at auction and never touched - not even to top up the washer bottle to stop the warning message.
However with a new set of discs and pads, replacement light cluster, full service and remap, the car is superb - goes great though needs revving, sounds even better, 4wd handling excellent (does need the front bushes replacing though) , brakes v good. Driving / ride comfort and overall refinement faultless.
Mpg has improved from 22 to 24+.
Other items: 4 new Dunlops £600, new windscreen (£75 excess)
Hope you find a good one.
