EGR removal - why bother with blanking plates?

Just a thought - if the EGR is disabled via a remap, it will essentially be "locked" closed, which will have the same effect as fitting blanking plates. Surely therefore, blanking plates shold not be required.

Am I missing something?

In theory yes you shouldnt need a plate but often it is just mapped out without checking that the valve is properly closed.
So fitting a plate just saves the trouble of cleaning and freeing off the egr to make sure it is shut.

there is still some pressure applied to the flap from the gases and it may still open slightly .So to be 100% sure fit a plate at both ends. Have you had the remap done if so well done in my opinion its the best thing you can do for yourself and your car. I had mind done 18 months ago car has run great since
