147 crankshaft sensor problem
My car is a 2002 1.6ts. Since I bought it second hand it had the problem that once it hit exactly 5k rpm, the engine management light came on. The needle would not go past 5k rpm no matter how hard I pushed on the accelerator. After three cycles of on/off, the light came off only to come on again at 5k rpm.
Recently, I had two cases where the engine cut out when idle, after driving for a good while. The second time a diagnostic scan showed crankshaft position error.
Got the sensor changed and this is the result: the car feels faster, but the engine management light comes on again, although this time it is bang on 4k rpm. The other difference is that now I can rev over 4k and i've gone as far as 6k rpm without problem, with the only strange thing that the needle after 4k bounces its way up instead of moving smoothly upwards.
I did an ecu reset yesterday, but same symptoms remain.
Can someone please shed some light???
Thank you in advance
