It's more likely to be a worn selector fork rather than a clutch problem. A worn clutch only affects getting the gears in... graunching, dragging, slipping etc. Once the gear is engaged the clutch doesn't do any more to keep it there.
It's possible that 5th gear can be fixed without too much dismantling.. 5th gea's cogs and selector are on the outside end of the gearbox and might be removeable with the box in situ.. if the GT uses the same family of gearbox as the 145/6 etc. which has a hatch/cover on the end.
If you end up taking the gearbox off altogether... fit a new clutch and release bearing at the same time (and slave cylimder if yours is original and concentric/it lives inside the clutch housing),... saves you going to all that trouble again later on.
