Didn't Alfa enter the 147 with a 2.4 in endurance racing?
Yep and the GT with a 2.4 and the 8v and 16v 1.9 147, the company that did it is mentioned in one of the articles I posted.
They can get a 2.4 to 360 brake and 700 nm or something, plus they build a sequential box that can handle all the torque. They can also get a 1.9 16V to 273 brake/512nm still with it's DPF !! :
dunno but they should have put that engine in both the GT and the 166 - Alfa c0cked up there, im sure its been said before
2.4jtd facelift 166 would have been lovely jubbly - i know they did em in Europe, but we should have had them....
Alfa considered selling diesels here for years but always ended up deciding that "diesels didnt suit their image in the UK", despite having sold them on the rest of the continent since the 50s with no image problems. They suer as hell would have sold a lot more 166s if it had had a diesel option.
How simple is it to drop a 2.4 to a 147 with 1.9 engine?
Um, didnt you read the links ? !!
It will drop straight in (well, the 156 20V will, the 159/Brera 2.4 needs a bit of the engine bay cut out as the block is slightly different) - the 147, 156 and GT are all effectively the same car, certainly the engine bays are almost identical, the problem is the body computer and programming it to take a 2.4 engine when it was never programmed to. The company that raced all those diesel Alfas has perfected the electronics, though, email em if you cant be bothered to read those articles lol.
