I have bought a 147 16V JTD, with known issues it has to be said. Anyway, the red airbag light wasn't coming on and the yellow one flashed continuously. Assumed someone had taped over the light (actually LED). ECU scan indicated open circuit - interesting. Dismantled the cluster to find out the one of the previous owners had gone to the trouble of ripping out the LED (Utter T*t-
) instead of just taping over or filling the hole with Plasticine (Marla in Eire) or bluetack.
So if your red airbag light is not coming on it could very well be because it isn't there!
After soldering in a standard green (
that's all I could find) LED, and resetting the errors now all the lights are out. With a snipe nose pliers I tore the side of the led hole to gain better access otherwise i'd never have been able to solder it in.
The lack of a red LED looks to cause the yellow LED to flash continuously even if there is nothing wrong with its own circuit.
I hope this might help someone.
Is it sad that I'm now excited that I have no warning lights or engine management failure warnings?
