156 JTD Problem

Just swapped my beloved 147 petrol for a 156 JTD (baby on way so need 4 doors). Pleased with car but having problem with it losing power. When setting off sometimes after a couple of minutes the car seems to lose all power and the engine judders (bit like if ran out of fuel) and won't rev above 900rpm. If I switch engine off and wait a few minutes it then starts fine. Will send it in to garage but just wondered if anyone else had had this problem of a JTD?

Re: 156 JTD Problem

Sounds like a fuel supply problem - pump in tank, blocked fuel line or filter or an air leak in to the fuel line. Best of luck, let us know how you get on.

Re: 156 JTD Problem

Went to local garage who wern't sure of fualt so sent it to a diesel specialist. They cound't find a fault code (first gagrge cleared them all for some reason). So told bring it back when fault occurs again. Car was ok since till saturday night when came out of supermarket and it wouldn't start. In end had to call for my dad to pick me and nine month pregnant wife up who is now crying about car. Went back a few hours later and after sevral attempts it started and drove home fine. Tried it agin on sunday staretd but after them after a few seconds cut out and woundn't start. I uplugged the sensor on at top of engine (just under engine cover) and it started but flashed up MCS go to dealer. Plugged sensor back it and it was fine. Going back on Monday to diesel specialist hopefully maybe a flauty sensor when engine cold?

Car has made a beep noise after a few seconds when started not long after I got it. Is theis some MCS warning noise?

Whole thing has made me some what disapointed with car, particullary as swapped my beloved faultless 147 for it. Hopefully can get sorted, already have father in-law saying should have got a bigger family car such as a mondeo estate.

Tell him to "shut-up" or you'll keep telling him, in detail, about how you put his beloved daughter to put her in the club.

Hope you get the car sorted.
