Wave Power steering.

Checked power steering fluid today, it is grey in colour smells burnt, pump is quiet and steering is fine. The oil has probably done 104000m. Now heres the question? can i drain the rack and whats the process.

Quietly awaiting your reply.

Re: Power steering.

Draining is quite straigh-forward.

Crack one of the connections into the pump and the oil will just fall out

You can move the steering from full lock side to side to get all of it out (not with the engine running of course).

Flush through with some clean fluid and then retighten and fill to the minimum mark. Do the side to side thing again to make sure the system has no air in it. Add some Forte pump conditioner if you like as its done a few miles and top up to max.

Don`t over-fill as the fluid expands when hot and will pour out everywhere
