156 diesel engine spec/fault differences.
I've posted in a couple of threads that, solely as I need estate car flexibility, I want to change my trusty 2003 2.4JTD for a 156 (or poss 159) SW asap.
My budget doesn't really stretch to a really nice 159 if I keep enough back for a possible clutch or gearbox that many seem to be facing so I'm looking more at a late 156.
But I'm confused by the diesel engine changes over the years.
It seems if I found a 2003 or before 1.9JTD they are lower power than my 150hp 2.4 but if they have the new grille they are 150hp too??? I assume the state of tune is quite high to get that extra power from the 1.9 so are there any reliability issues?
Also does the 1.9, being 4cyl, sound (from inside) anything like the 5cyl growl?
Then thinking about a later 156 2.4 with the new grille these seem to have gone up 25hp over mine, I guess for being 20V. Are there any issues with the 20V compared with the simpler 10V.
Any thoughts or a timeline/spec of the various diesel engines much appreciated.
