After reading comments on this site I finally got around to contacting Angel Tuning and sorting out a remap for my 156 2.4JTDm (20v) - The car is now about 18 months old and I've owned it for the past 5 months... touch wood there have been no probs, other than a broken down pipe caused by the dealership during the service
The re-map took a while to sort as I was trying to arrange a group session with friends in Audi A3's and Merc's, in the end it was just me and a Merc 220CLK.
Well what can I say other than - if you're considering a remap, do it. The hike to 225bhp, 310lb/ft of torque and better mpg is sooo noticeable. The performance increase is immense - I got a thumbs up from a RX8 225 the other day when we had a little play. The subtlety of the 156 certainly surprises people - put your foot down at 80mph and your soon finding the needle edging past a mark 40mph higher up
- obviously on the track at this point
And for someone who is doing 30k miles a year (hence the speeds mentioned above wouldn't be to risk my licence) the increased mpg is most welcome... I've not calculated the payback time but the increase mileage will soon pay for itself; as a guide I'm getting around 53mpg on a run, whereas I was hitting around 47 previously. A run, for me, is mainly M-way, some A and B-Roads and booting it on the A and Bs to get around traffic.
Only positives from here and a thumbs up to the guys at Angel Tuning.
.... and I'll probably be frequenting here a bit more often now too.
