Further upper arm problems
Ok, so for a quick update, had lots of additional work to do on front suspension which meant it all had to come apart again, so bought red rubber grease and planned to lube the bushes on the new top wishbones, as after 1 week in place they started had saterted squeaking, my problem is now this.
As I understand it from replies in the thread, the Top hat collar should rotate inside the bush, so I went to remove it and it seems to be bonded and the whole collar and bush assembly comes out of the alloy wishbone. So I took the old wishbones (TRW) and did the same bush removal process, but with these the collar comes out leaving the bush in the arm, however looking at the inner surface of the bush it is obvious that there has been no rotational movement, because the inner surface still has the unworn raised + signs on its surface.
So from this I have two options:
1) Buy a different make of upper wishbone and hope that the collar presses out to allow lubrication.
2) Apply red rubber grease to the outer surface of the new arms bushes and allow it to rotate within the arm.
As far as I can see although 2) seems to be incorrect , is it?. I have tried several times with the new wishbones, to get the Top hat collar out of the bush, but it will not budge so am I being dim or can the collar and the bush rotate in the arm?
Any help would be appreciated as I do not want to have to take them out again next weekend.
