"Scheduled service due in 14"........

I got the above message on my 156 the other day.

What does it mean?

14 days?

14 weeks?

14 miles?

I have only had the car since March of this year, and it has covered just over 10,000 miles since then. When I bought it, the dealer gave it a full service (as it was a year old already, but pre-registered with delivery mileage).

I was hoping to get away with not servicing it again until next March (when, hopefully, Portsmouth will once again have a proper dealership).

Does this mean that I have driven the car so hard that it needs an early service? Does it mean that the dealers didn't reset the servicing clock (if there is such a thing )? Or can I just ignore the message and get it serviced 12 months or 12,000 miles after it's last service?

Cheers for your help guys (and gals!)

Re: "Scheduled service due in 14"........

the car has a service counter in it, when it is serviced this counter is reset to either 10000 or 12000 miles, as you plod along your merry way this counter decreases... when you hit zero it tells you that the service is due. its a distance base thing really. nothing wrong with early servicing you know. service intervals should always be based on usage rather than time anyway, a car takes a lot more stress doing 10000 miles in 6 months than it does doing the same miles in 12 months

Days probably.
The counter works on miles AND time. If the time elapses before the miles are up it prompts you to have the service.
If you go into INFO, and click about until you find SERVICE and press the info button again it wil tell you.
