Try the temp sender on the thermostat housing, there are two normally one for the ECU one for the gauge.
When you start the engine its cold and the engine runs rich, when its hot the temp sender leans the mixture off.
When the sender goes wrong the engine assumes its cold all the time and throws to much fuel through the system. So when its hot it wont start as its to rich. when you let the engine cool it starts again fine.
If the error doesn't show as the temp s, it can show on the Lambda as a fueling error. To check it bridge the sender contacts when its hot if it starts you know what it is!
Had a similar problem on a couple of cars, the girl friends punto and a Digifant system I built a 145.
