How you all doing?
Well, I've had an Alfa for one week and already I have a few issues!
One, will be resolved in a few days (hopefully) the passenger airbag light flashing - the airbag is deactivated just in case. The remote central locking does not work either. I think these were both caused by a flat battery, which was replaced by the dealer I got the car from - he is getting the car back in to rectify these problems.
Of greater worry is the Selespeed warning light flashing on and off intermittently. When it does, the gearchange does not operate at all - city, stick or buttons. It seems to mainly happen in 3rd gear, but can manifest itself in R and all forward gears! If I come to a standstill, the car will go into neutral and not allow any gearchanges. You cannot hear the gearbox trying to change gear at all. Then, after a few seconds it then clears itself and will carry on as if nothing is wrong.
It sometimes clears itself while driving as well.
I don't know if it is just tempermental Italian electrics and cold weather as it has just started when the temperature has fallen well below zero. Or could it be cold weather and hydraulic fluid thickening?
When I take it back to my friend whom I got it off, he was going to take it to a specialist to get the airbag light taken off, I'm writing this to get some feedback so that I cannot be "fobbed off".
I do work in the trade, selling new BMWs, so I know how complicated modern SMG style gearboxes are - just ask most M5 and M6 owners. Over the years I've owned anything and everything, this is my first Alfa, replacing a 10 yr old Range Rover 2.5DSE that never missed a beat, even though it had to be one of the most nightmarish cars for electrics and hydraulics!
Any advice would be greatfully received.
