Re: noisey 156

It shouldn't sound noisy after all the work you have had done, however you may find it slightly noisier than normal for the first few miles until the oil has had chance to fill the tappets and variator etc.
I would take it back to wher you had the work done if you are concerned.

Re: noisey 156

And it does depend on what the noise is....IMHO it is absolutely vital to have the big end bearings replaced whenever there has been a top-end failure.....far too many instances of the bearings being nipped and failing within 2 - 3K miles after a rebuild unless replaced....

And how on earth do people get up to these figures for a simple head repair.......£320 for the recon head off Engine Express on Ebay, say £200 for belts much for Labour????????????

Sorry, not trying to be a smart-a**e - but I just feel there are too many people out there getting ripped off....

Re: noisey 156

1700 quid is alot of money just for head repair. It seems to be{ and i could be wrong} that as soon as you mention the word ALFA to an garage or exhaust centre etc the cost goes up. It pays to shop around.

Re: noisey 156

Agree with Richard, could be the bottom end although it may be too early to tell unless there was immediate damage.

Perhaps more likely is they haven't timed the car up correctly...was it an Alfa garage?
