Some advice please guys….
I have recently purchased a 147 m-jet, 55 plate, 8.5K on the clock. Lovely car, however I have had a number of problems with car in the past few months:
The odd error message on the dash, i.e. ‘fog light failure’, when actually it is fine and working.
‘Motor control failure’
‘VDC system failure’, followed by…..
…. The car spending two weeks nearly at my local Alfa dealer trying to be fixed. The dealer fitted a new ABS ECU and body controller unit to no avail. In the end Alfa were called to site, who pin pointed the fault within three hours (faulty wiring within the bulkhead). The has been fine since (touch wood!)
Have I been unlucky here, or is this typical of Alfa ownership ? From what I have read Alfa and dealers are supposed to have sorted out these type of quality issues.
Put simply, having owned numerous pervious Vauxhalls and VW’s in the past, I have never experienced these problem even with 100K plus on the clock. It is all very well while the car is under it’s three year warranty, what happens after that, do people generally pay to extend the warranty ? If so how much is this ?
I am beginning to wonder if I did the right thing selling my trusty Astra SRI MK4!....
