When the car is Idle, i'm getting a "low oil pressure" warning light. The first time this happened, i checked the oil level, and the level was fine. And then, the car kept cutting out from then onwards, from the idle state. The car was sent into the dealer, where they diagnosed it as a jammed "actuator plunger", which in turn messed up my valve timing.
After fixing the car over a month ago, i'm now getting the same "low oil pressure" warning. Although, now, the car is buring a full tank of oil in around 150 miles!!!
The car went into the dealer last week, where they apparently found NO PROBLEMS at all - no leeks, pressure tested the engine etc, and asked me to report back this week on how the oil level was keeping up.
Well... tonight it happened again while at the petrol station... "low oil pressure" at idle, and then the engine cut out. I immediately checked the oil level, and found that it was half way (thats half of all my oil burned in the space of one day!)
I'll be reporting back to alfa romeo tomorrow, but i'm in serious doubt that they will solve the problem, as it's still the exact same scenario as before... burning oil + no oil pressure (even when there's plenty of oil), and the engine cutting out.
The guy at the Alfa dealer said that the JTS is an incredibly thirsty engine for oil, but not this bad. Has anyone had this problem before? or any clues which I can tell the dealer as to what the problem may be?
Thanx in advance.
