Slight ticking from top end of engine
Hi everyone. I have just replaced the cambelt and variator on my car and when I start the car there is a very light ticking noise coming from the cam cover area of the engine. This dissapears when the engine is hot, but is always there when cold. The car drives perfectly and the cam variator appears to work fine. Is this anything to worry about or will it settle down after a few miles have been covered (I have only done 20 miles since doing the work). I seem to remember it from the last car I changed the cambelt and variator on, am I doing something wrong? I did put oil on all the bearings etc before re-assembling everything. I couldn't see any obvious wear on the cam lobes either when the car was in bits, and it has only done 70,000 miles.
You will never be cool driving a Vauxhall.
