150 bhp jtd

hi all,
can you tell me when the 150 bhp jtd engine was introduced on the 156 sportwagon and was this standard or an option.
looking to purchase first alfa but confused by ads some saying 140 bhp others nothing thanks for any help.couple people have said 2.4jtd would be better for motorway miles which car will be used for.

the 1.9 JTD-m 150bhp was standard in ALL 1.9 diesel 156 sportwagons as of october 2004. prior to that they were the 140bhp engine.

i think you will find both cars more than enough for motorway driving but the only way to really be sure is to test drive both.

On the 2.4 engines it crept up over the years:

136bhp - all silver engine cover 99-00
140bhp - silver and black engine cover 01-02
150bhp - silver and black engine cover, dashmount computer 03-04
175bhp - silver and black engine cover, dashmount computer - and it says 20V on it and is a facelifted car

The 1.9 16Valve M Jet was 140 bhp until late 2004 build as Marko says, then 150 bhp. 8 valve JtD's 1.9's have anything from 90 to 120 bhp and are quite likely to be imports as AR UK didnt bring these in until very late in the run.
