Hmmm Sound like split turbo hose?

Here we go

Another problem has cropped up on the 147 1.9 JTD this time in the form of the sound of rushing air on acceleration. I assume this is the lower turbo hose (I guessed it was on the way out anyway).

The sound is like rushing air, allot like if I turned my fans on full blast but happens as the turbo starts up, driving like church vicar and not allowing the car to go above 2k revs prevents the turbo spooling up and the noise. The only thing is that the rushing air sound seems like its coming from the drivers side in the engine bay?

It's been too damp for me to clime under the car and check the turbo hose for splits, the top hose inflates when revved so I assume that means that one is fine, the lower one I looked at and doesn't seem to inflate.

I will replace both with silicone ones asap but just checking that there isn't something else it could be? Rushing air I assume normally means lower turbo hose on these?

147 Sport Q2

Makes a good case for a split lower turbo hose but I'd want to see it so you can at least be sure that it's nothing else. Plus do you get any black smoke and/or a loss of power? Might be an idea to clean the EGR while you're at it. If you still have the OEM hoses it's a good idea as you suggested to replace them with silicone hoses. The silicone hoses don't expand with heat like the OEM ones do, the lower hose is prone to splitting as it rubs on the gearbox. Autolusso and AlfaWorkshop sell them for around 80 for the upper and 60 ish for the lower.

147 Sport Q2: Autolusso Remap + Swirl Flap & EGR Delete, Mocal Oil Cooler Kit, JTD Performance FMIC Kit + High Flow Elbow, Wizard Downpipe, PF Pads + 5.1 Fluid, Autolusso Braided Brake Lines, MTech Short-Shifter, Autolusso Silicone Turbo-to-MAF Hose, Refurbed Q2's + Some to add later.
