my 156 caught fire at petrol station
i stopped at the motorway services to get some windscreen wash but as i got out the car i noticed it was smoking under the bonnet. moments later i had to dash for the fire extinguisher and with the help of others we put the fire out.
only a month ago i had fitted a nice second hand engine and thermostat to the car after the old ones blew up.
since the new engine was fitted its been running without any problems however the heating and aircon were now not working. i was able to look past this though for the time being.
aparently the bearings for the aircon compressor have gone causing a horrible crunching noise and burning from the unit.
I want to know several things:
can i directly relate the cause of this serious fault to be the work of the guys that fitted my new engine, causing this major problem?
how much will a new compressor cost to purchase and fit?
can i do like the towe driver suggested and run a shorter cambelt and bipass the aircon at the expense of not being able to use it?
any help wud be greatly appreciated guys n gals
