Alfa dealers are Dumb
After the clutch release bearing going on my 156 selespeed, i fitted a new clutch and bearing, did not remove the actuator, just disconnected the loom, and then bled the system with my diagnostic equipment, and adjusted the clutch slave cylinder arm. then when i selected a gear nothing happened? it made a noise but never selected?. I could get a gear if i disconnected the selector switch but that was it. I got onto the dealer and booked it in to see if they could do anything, the service manager said it would be the actuator without even looking at it? anyway they had it 3 weeks and then said it was the gearbox and actuator and would cost around £3000 fitted? i told him sorry but theirs no way the clutch release bearing, actuator, and gearbox could all go at the very same point in time, they tried to charge me £190 for that info, we settled on a hours labour £95 (rip off) i got the car back and got the actuator on the bench and tested the solonoids, all working, even made my own tool to align it back up at the end, put it back together, still no gears? Checked the wires on the two side solonoids and found a poor connector on the two pin plug, fixed the plug and it was perfect. And i was told that this guy was the best selespeed guy in the country? yeah right! dealers are dumb! well their is one good thing? i know a lot about the ins and outs of the selespeed unit.
