newbie questions

Hello fellow Alfa enthusiasts!!! (did I spell that right?)

I recently purchased an Alfa 147 1.6 Lusso and I have a couple of questions.

1) When the car is idle the revs are stable at 800 rpm. Is that ok or a bit low?
2) the car accelerates fine but it really sims to pick up after 3000 revs. Is that common?
3) I have a squeeking noise every time I press the clutch. Anyone else something similar?

Re: newbie questions

1) Yes.

2) Yes.

3) No. But that's usually a sign it may need replacing soon. On other cars that would be the clutch release bearing.

Spelling's OK too!!!

Re: newbie questions

what gazza said, oh and welcome aboard!

However the squeeking noise could be the sring or the pedal hinge on the clutch, does the noise come from inside or as if its from the outside?

Re: newbie questions

Thank you all for the quick answers

The clutch noise seems to be coming from the outside. Its when I press and release at the same point I get this squeeking noise. I will have it checked out.

Thanks again everyone

Re: newbie questions

sounds like early signs of the clutch failing. get her checked out, if anything for piece of mind.

theres a nice expression that comes with the alfas... fun starts at 3000... and boy is it true

hope you enjoy your alfa ownership. good luck trying to go back to a 'lesser' make
