Madness Bad to worse to worse to worse!

Let me start by saying I love my 2.0 156 JTS!

It's my second Alfa.

I bought it in November. On the day that I bought it I got a parking ticket. I'd picked it up in the evening from Wembley and had stopped (at about 11 o'clock at night) in what appeared to be a parking bay, to put my post code in SATNAV so I could get home. Turns out that there was a 'loading only' sign hidden away somewhere.

Anyway, 5 weeks later white steam from front of the car - at the time I just thought it was from the exhaust of the car in front of me. A couple of days later, HUGE plume of white steam and warning to pull over immediately. Pulled over at earliest safe opportunity (probably about half a mile).

Phoned the garage that I bought it from - friendly response - 'Your warranty was only for 28 days." New Radiator, water pump, cam belt and some other bits; £1,000 lighter but at least my beautiful looking car works and is running fine!

1 week later, start to notice a kind of humming/whistling noise. Following week car starts running warm in stationary traffic. Turn the engine off (I'm now a little nervous if the temp gauge passes the half way mark). Go to start the car - nothing! £120 for some guy to come and boost my car with a set of jump leads (I have some in my garage, well, in my boot now!). Two more weeks and it drives like a tractor! Motor Control System Failure warning going crazy, no power, lumpy drive and shrill whistle at high revs on motorway.

Is it time to kill my car?

Had your cambelt/waterpump failed? When was it changed previously?

As it's a JTS I'd guess it's a coil pack that's failed. If so it's a cheap and easy fix but don't drive it in the meantime.

Sounds like a problem with the radiator fan, overheating/humming.
