another engine fault lamp tale...

topped up the oil the other day in after a 30 mile journey... checked with hot engine... dip stick down half way between amrkers... again. got the old 10w40 out.. same stuff that the car has ran on for 20k miles... topped up no bother... 10 miles down the road engine warning light comes on with that lovely and really helpful motor control system failure message... is there any change the cold oil going in upset something for a fraction of a second and caused some sensor to miss a reading? the lamsp been on all week as i havent had my laptop running (busy reinstallind xp now) so havent been able to get any code or reset it... however even when the alarm flashed up there was absolutely no change in operation. shes been fine all week and ive been thrashing her up in the highlands, done best part of 1000 miles.

any ideas? code will be read, noted and reset tomorrow.

ps. im back
