Yep, picked it up Sunday and drove back up as far as Kellington, just outside York. We stayed in a lovely 16th century B&b (The Old Vicarage) and a had a wander round York the next day before heading home. Road conditions were attrocious BTW, especially the
'66 from Scotch Corner to penrith. The Ti never missed a beat and was rock steady in those winds. And - no doubt about engine choice now, the punch of that wee diesel really showed through, even if it still is a bit tight.
Everything went as smooth as silk at Auto Lusso and I've noticed significant improvements in the way they do business from the last time. handed the Clio over and made the ballance payment by "SWITCH" ; can you believe it, buying a car on "SWITCH"?
The car was beautifully prep'ed, they had it lined up behind 2 Gts which were being picked up the same day. All the cars were covered in a special soft plastic sheeting. Kinda looks great as they whip it off to reveal the shiny jewell beneath! you should have seen the owner of the Gt's face as his car was revealled, it lit up like a 'wean at Christmas!
I'll post photos as soon as I download them but I have to say that even I am delighted with the color combo and those alloys look fabulous in the metal (much better and more voluptuous than in photos).
Susan's over the moon with it, she says it's dead girly and will whip the pants of the GT cos it's just as powerfull! Drats!!
heck, she even let me drive it for a bit and I was sorely tempted to kerb her 'feekin alloys (you know, just to keep up the family tradition
) but I just couldn't - it's far too pretty.
So, all in all a very successful purchase all round.
