Not Happy New Transponder Keys

Hi can anyone help i have smashed the remote key for my 156 and now the blade is seperate from the fob. I have bought a used key and changed the remote chip over, but cannot attach the blade as they are moulded in. The friendly guy at alfa said 140 for new key + vat i thought a bit steep but needs must, however i asked (he didnt advise me) if the key would work straight away and then was told i would need to book an hours labour @ 64 for a recode??? can anyone point me to a supplier (NOT ALFA) of the remote keys for my 1998 156, or adv if the one hour labour is right? i thought you just put the key in the ignition and pressed the button on the fob to sync the car and key.

No, if you use the complete new key it needs a session on the Examiner to program the new key to the car.

You may get away with swapping the chip from your old key though.
