Help multiECU clutch rod help - surrey/hampshire

cheeky ask from tight-wad 2004 147 TS 2.0 Selespeed owner

reluctant to pay 60 for local garage labour to check if clutch rod length is the reason i get bad 1st to 2nd gear change when engine hot. All other gear changes both up and down are fine. If rod length is out, I don't mind shelling out for the cables and getting my hands dirty.

I'm in the Hindhead A3 tunnel area but naturally I'll drive to wherever the helpful generous soul is :-)

Any takers???
