been in discussions with my local nitrous specialist (mashamoto) about the possibility of a progressive N2O setup on my alfa. after much discussion we firmly believe that for the likes of track and drag use the following setup would be safe (engine has been 110% assessed, and is perfect condition)...
direct port injection wet kit
11lb bottle (possibly 2 if use proves heavy)
progressive digital controller to vary power dependant on revs
progression from 25hp gain at 3500rpm to 100hp at 7000rpm
all parties concerned with the installation and setup are confident the engine will not die with this type of power shot as it will be brief use only, not a constant thing. would really tear the competition to bits on the 1/4 mile... and have huge benefits on track.
only down side... it will require a new ECU map as to retard the ignition a bit closer to stock as at current as soon as the nitrous entered the engine it would blow the whole lot up! this is likely to cost me best part of 15bhp normal use but gain massively where it is needed. an option is to look at a new piggyback controller that will allow for multiple setups, road and n2o.
opinions? am i mad? daft? completely ****ing insane? go on, talk me out of it.
