Yes, I would put money on it being the Auxilliary belt tensioner. having gone through 5 in a year I feel as though I have secured my own topic for boring pub conversation.
Having the first one changed, I then got into a panic about the new noises, Tappets?, Cam Belt?, no just the tensioner bearing which blew as entertainingly as the first one. On the third one I was sure that the alternator or power steering pump were on their way out, nope, the tensioner again. The fourth one was just getting so noisy that I changed it, the bearing was a loose as old knicker elastic. The current one seems ok but I bought this myself off the net and got it fitted by an independent, the others all being done by the dealership.
If you can slip the belt off and run the engine, no noise would say auxilliary belt tensioner/idler issues.
