147 1.6 TS Low oil pressure warning... Help
Hi Guys.... Girls
I've just brought a 55 1.6 147. This is my 3rd and sure won't be my last!
I got it cheap as it was advertised with engine management light on and when cold it won't go over 3k revs. It comes and goes.
I thought it could possibly be the MAFS.
It had the cam belt replaced 2k miles ago and just had a serives. When I checked it, I noticed the variator noise and was told they (the garage he brought it from) only put the belt on when it was on 105000, the change before that was 70 with a full kit. I am not too concerned with the variator just yet.
I checked the oil and it was clean just done but looked a little thin. Drove home, never noticed the rev issue more than twice. Gets home have another look around then went to see a friend whos a mechanic about the revs, when all of a sudden the oil pressure warning came on. No noises or bangs just the light.
My mate says its the variator thats responsible for the revs and the pressure warning. He checked the pressure and said it looks fine. My last 147 variator was the same and i used it for years so I read few post most saying try the battery, so i did. Still the same. Although it's 2nd hand and ive not been anywhere in it.
Could it be the oil is too thin?
Any ides about the revs stopping at 3000?.
It was a bit of a gamble because i got it cheap enough, just hoping someone could give me some advice
