hello everyone. I hate being the t**t that only posts on here when there's a problem (though I have started coming to NW meets in my defense!).
I have had a shunt in my GT, I went into the back of someone in slow moving traffic. I'm such an idiot!!
An oil leak developed where I lost all the oil in less than 10 miles, so had to put it through the insurance. Just got the bill back and it comes to £4164 for car worth £3750 at a push. Therefore it'll be written off as a Cat C. I'm not bothered by this as I plan to keep the car until it dies.
However I have bent the front cross member bar behind the bumper and pushed the radiator and condenser against the engine block. One of the impact absorber blocks has stabbed the condenser, but no fluid loss. Both are working however.
My question is what's the long term impact of not repairing the cross member? Could it be difficult to change radiator in the future? or any steering / suspension issues?
Also does anyone have any experience on the work to replace the cross member (to give me an idea of cost of paying someone to fix it)?
I got my GT at a cracking price and can't really afford to put more cash into purchasing another GT. I really don't want to be GT'less!!
I need to make a decision when the insurance comoany call back in a day or so. Keep it and face the repair or face being GT less...
thanks for any help you can give!
