147JTDm high pitched whine/fuel gauge
Just taken Bella (2005 147JTDm) for her first roadtrip to Cannes via Switzerland & Route Napoleon. Stunning drive and far more fun than my C270CDi even if I did miss rear wheel drive.
Mananged to average 62mph/43mpg over 1,864 miles together with immeasurable fun albeit with a couple of issues.
1) Occasional high pitched whine when 'making progress' - if consistent I would put down to turbo but no real consistency on where/when. Any thoughts anyone or do the all do that ?
2) Fuel gauge - almost got trapped by the Frenchies desire to stay in bed on Sundays and not accept UK credit cards. Managed to coax her 30 miles over the Alps to nearest open petrol station with 1/8th of a tank showing and 70 miles range. Switched off, tried credit card, failed so got back in to restart only to find that gauge didn't move of the stop and range was now just dashes along with warning message. Which should I have believed ? For reference I bottled out and got a friendly frenchie (in an immaculate Renault Alpine) to fill it on my behalf for cash.
